Energy Workshop Celebrated at CEMFI
Yesterday, at EnergyEconLab (CEMFI), we hosted a new edition of the Energy Workshop in Madrid, part of the annual series we organise on a rotating basis together with the Toulouse School of Economics, the Université libre de Bruxelles, and IAE-CSIC (Barcelona). This year’s workshop took place at CEMFI on 17–18 March 2026.
The programme brought together an outstanding group of researchers working on some of the most important issues in energy and environmental economics: electricity pricing, retail contracts, regulation, climate and industrial policy, EV charging infrastructure, natural gas market integration, residential solar subsidies, transmission constraints, and information in wholesale electricity markets.
It was a pleasure to welcome participants from institutions including University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Aalto University, Toulouse School of Economics, Université libre de Bruxelles, Universidad de Girona, CUNEF Universidad, University of Vienna, University of Navarra, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, EDF, ifo Institute – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research, Paris School of Economics, and CEMFI.
A big thank you to all speakers, chairs, and participants for making this such a stimulating and enjoyable workshop.
We are also very grateful for the support of our funders: the European Research Council (ERC), Fundación Ramón Areces, and the Comunidad de Madrid.
